07 Mar Fibes receives the Tourism Quality and Environmental Management Certificates
Seville’s Conference and Exhibition Centre leads the Spanish market after achieving two certifications as a result of all its hard work throughout the year.
Juan Espadas, Mayor of Seville, remarks Fibes’ good prospects for 2017 with great congresses and conferences attended by over 6,000 people, 24 trade fairs and 40 cultural events attracting more than 900,000 people.
Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre has received for the first time the Q for Tourism Quality certificate granted by the Spanish Tourism Quality Institute, as well as the Environmental Management System ISO 14001 certification as a result of a comprehensive adaptation process carried out over the last year. This recognition comes after the ISO 9001 certification adapted to 2015, which has been updated thus placing Fibes at the top of the sector in Spain.
The Mayor of Seville, Juan Espadas, along with Fibes Managing Director, Jesús Rojas, have received these certifications during a ceremony which was graced with the presence of Santiago Oliva, General Manager of OCA certifying company, as well as representatives of the consulting firm. “Continuous quality improvement of services provided by the Conference and Exhibition Centre from the standpoint of environmental sustainability is momentous to attract great events to the city and to strengthen the Conference Centre as one of Seville’s economic drivers“, said the Mayor.
The Q for Tourism Quality certification is the consequence of different achievements such as the establishment of working protocols in all the departments, and the fulfillment of the maximum standards of quality in services, clients, exhibitors and providers. Furthermore, the recognition reflects the standardisation of all the protocols related to customer service also identifying the risk situations that might happen. Regarding catering services, working protocols have been created aiming at the correct management and processing of food, including the implementation of hygiene and continuous training plans to ensure the proper service provision and customer care.
The Environmental Management ISO 14001 certification ensures the legal compliance of all the facilities and infrastructure with nursing service and defibrillation equipment, the correct management and treatment of urban waste and dangerous substances, as well as action protocols in emergency situations. It also guarantees the preventive maintenance of all infrastructures of the Conference Centre, thus extending its service life.
These distinctions have been achieved in a year of great importance for Fibes due to the expectations brought about by the prospects: 2016 closed with 860,000 visitors participating in the different events, trade fairs and congresses and an economic impact of around 100 million euros.
An increase in congresses with appointments and some events with over 6,000 attendants is foreseen for 2017. There are also 24 already scheduled trade fairs with 725,000 persons and more than 40 cultural events with 165,000 expected visitors with great musical shows and first-rate artists.
Also for this year, within the framework of the 2017 Tourism Action Plan led by the Delegation of Urban Space, Tourism and Culture of Seville’s Town Council, measures and actions have been set out aiming to attract great congresses and conferences to be developed during the tourist low season with sector diversification.
