The Conference and Exhibition Centre (FIBES) (FIBES I and FIBES II-extension) wishes to highlight its Quality and Environmental Management Policy based on UNE 187004:2008, UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 e UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015 norms. Its goal is to comply with all
the applicable regulation investing its efforts in the continuous improvement of the activities to carry out, aiming at ensuring the use and enjoyment of all the facilities and services of the Conference and Exhibition Centre at its best as well as ensuring customer satisfaction.
The inclusion of the culture of total quality in Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre (FIBES) management is fulfilled every day by its General Direction and all the staff’s active commitment.
This commitment leads us all to undertake an irreversible process to continuous improvement as well as pollution prevention, in all our activities and services provided.
In the face of this challenge, Seville City Council and FIBES General Direction publicly express the following Quality and Environmental Policy, which is constantly disseminated and is well known by its workers, clients, providers and partners.
To offer our clients and visitors the highest performance in our service and product, respecting and protecting the Environment as far as we can, and helping them to enjoy our facilities. To that aim, we commit ourselves to checking, renewing and keeping our facilities beyond the Regulations, innovating and increasing our services to reach the highest levels of satisfaction offering improvements for our clients’ enjoyment.
To undertake new marketing approaches and how to present our image in the market, taking into account new technologies and new energy saving systems and new ways to recycle raw materials.
To rely on a team of trained professionals with the necessary skills to comply with our Mission and our Vision.
Our organization’s cultural values are instilled into our staff as well as into our providers and are passed along to clients through our service. To involve our providers in our continuous improvement and environmental respect project which is being developed, demanded and implied by the Institution by means of high quality levels of its product and service.
Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre (FIBES) General Direction is committed to meeting the legal applicable requirements and other requirements undertaken by the organization in connection with environmental issues. As a result of this Quality and Environmental Policy, FIBES is carrying out good practice measures in various areas:
In Fibes I premises there is a waste facility for temporary storage and management of dangerous residues from maintenance operations of the different infrastructures in Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre’s Buildings.
At present, for the Environmental management of said residues, we count on LABYGEMA, a dedicated manager authorized by the Department of Environment of the Andalusian Government. Likewise, that firm is in turn certified with the ISO 9001: 2008, ISO 14001:2004 y OHSAS 18001:2007 norms and is recorded in Seville’s Town Register of Urban Waste Managers. After being removed, the waste is taken to an authorized manager, VERINSUR, S.A.
Waste such as debris, paper, wood, mixed waste, recyclable residues, etc, are taken away and carried by COTYMSUR, and transported to Banales recovery plant with Waste Management Number (GRU) 256. CONSENUR is a firm that deals with special biomedical waste whose removal and elimination is subject to special requirements to prevent infection, such as sharp objects or
expired medicines. Finally, to meet the waste management needs in electric and electronic devices, the lamp waste Management Integrated System, AMBILAMP, is in charge of collecting the received lamp waste. They arrange and remove said waste to authorized facilities in order to ensure its correct environmental treatment.
Throughout Fibes I and Fibes II facilities, there are various ecological islands where any user of the facilities can make selective waste segregation. Waste removal is carried out as follows:
1. Organic waste:
– Waste bins: they are used for the rubbish which is generated on a day. Lipasam is in charge of removing it every day. Collection point in FIBES I (see attached map)
2. Glass: Lipasam is in charge of removing it.
– Bin situated in FIBES I.
3. Paper/cardboard/wood/plastic/carpet/organic waste:
– Cotymsur (Transportes, Máquinas y Servicios del Sur) is in charge of removing it.
Bins situated in FIBES I and FIBES II (see attached map).
4. Sanitary waste:
– Fumisur, S.L. is in charge of removing it. Bins situated in bathrooms for women in FIBES I and II and pavilions.
– Ambilamp Association is in charge of removing them. Bins situated in FIBES I basement.
6. Dangerous waste:
– Labygema, S.L. is in charge of removing it. Collection point is situated in FIBES I basement.
7. Spacial biomedical waste:
– Conesur, S.L. is in charge of removing it. Bins situated in FIBES I health service.
At present, all kitchen equipment undergoes a continuous corrective maintenance process following the manufacturer’s instructions, which ensures energy resource optimization from equipment such as cold stores, warming tables, etc.
Likewise, waste management is carried out through selective segregation deposits and so the facility has those deposits inside and outside it. Finally, older equipment will be replaced by more energy efficient A+++ class equipment.
With the purpose of reducing electric consumption, various investments have been made, among which:
-Replacement of FIBES I basement lighting by new equipment improving energy efficiency.
-Replacement of lighting in the main rooms, Al Andalus, Italica, Ronda and Bahia by low consumption equipment.
-Replacement of step marking system in rooms Al Andalus and Italica by LED technology devices.
Within the Environmental continuous improvement process, a number of objectives have been established to be reached in the next few years, namely:
– Replacement of lighting in the Centre and Pavilions bathrooms by LED-type equipment.
– Replacement of FIBES I street lighting by LED-type equipment.
– Changing of FIBES II auditorium lighting on/off system for the optimization of energy consumption and equipment durability.
– Replacement of lighting in Centre and Pavilions common areas by LED-type lamps.
Self-contained air-conditioning equipment has been installed in FIBES I lecture rooms and offices.
Energy efficiency has been improved in FIBES I air-conditioning system by means of lagging the cooling tower condensation lines.
Optimization of FIBES I and FIBES II garden irrigation water consumption through the installation of controllers. Hence garden irrigation takes place at the times when sunshine impinges the least in summer and winter, thus not only increasing irrigation performance but also avoiding irrigation water evaporation.
Capacitor banks have been installed to correct power factor and improve harmonic in medium and low voltage electric network.
Capacitor banks allow us to minimize the impact from reactive energy consumption, saving up to 30% of annual electric energy consumption.
It is planned to replace the equipment for production of air-conditioned cooling in FIBES I for the improvement of energy efficiency.
Drinking water control management, ornamental fountain water and cooling tower reservoir purification have been automated.
We, in FIBES, are aware of the need to respect and protect the environment as well as of the impact of our activities on it.
Consequently, FIBES has committed to developing a responsible attitude towards the natural surroundings, demanded from all the members of the organization.
In order to reach this goal, FIBES has adopted several commitments leading to continuous improvement and the achievement of its environmental objectives:
– To promote awareness raising on the environment among FIBES employees as well as partner companies:
1. Reducing material consumption (paper, dangerous substances, etc.), by reducing the use of paper sheets, avoiding, as far as possible, printing or excessive use. For large assignments, it is more economical to use an external provider.
2. Reducing energy consumption, by insisting on computers, printers, air conditioners, etc. being switched off when leaving our office at lunch time and especially at the end of our working day.
3. Using material with a less negative environmental impact (Buying Green).
4. Workers and partners have been informed and made aware of environmental issues.
