THE 6th EUROPEAN CHEMISTRY CONGRESS, EUCHEMS, on until September 15, a meeting point for 2,500 specialists and several Nobel Prize winners, was inaugurated today.
FIBES Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre has inaugurated the EuCheMS 6th European Chemistry Congress with an opening session chaired by the Head of Junta de Andalucía’s Employment, Enterprise and Commerce Department, José Sánchez Maldonado and the Deputy Mayor of Seville’s Town Council, Carmen Castreño Lucas, among others.
FIBES, worldwide hub for the Chemistry sector for 5 days
The international congress, held in Spain for the first time and receiving 2,500 European experts on the subject, has become the biggest European event of the chemistry community where the most relevant progress in the field is discussed. EuCheMS congress will transform Seville into the world’s crucial point of Chemistry for five days.
We should point out the plenary lectures given by prominent figures as renowned as Richard Schrock, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2005; Avelino Colma, Príncipe de Asturias Award in Research and Scientific Technique 2014; Ada Yonath, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009; Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1987; Nazario Martín, from Madrid Complutense University, in memory of Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1996, Harry Kroto, etc.
EuCheMS is the proper meeting point to promote collaboration and exchange of knowledge as the convergence place among the different sectors of the industry (academics, young graduates, professionals and executives).
The chosen themes, of extreme relevance to the present moment, to be discussed will be about: Materials, Challenges and Nanochemistry; Catalysis, Industry and Applications; Environment, Energy and Sustainability; Education and Society; New Chemical Components: Synthesis, Methods and Industrial Processes; etc.
The Scientific Committee also stands out for the high level. The papers and lectures will be given by well-regarded scientists with worldwide recognition, as well as the aforementioned Nobel Prize winners. Besides the lectures and simultaneous events, the international congress will also have an exhibition area counting more than 50 companies. Finally, the Honour Committee, chaired by the King of Spain, will be composed of relevant persons of the political, academic as well as business spheres.
The Congress, fostered by ANQUE, Spanish National Association of Chemists, has the support of Institutions and Companies such as Andalucía’s Regional Government, the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Repsol, Cepsa, the Royal Society of Chemistry, ASC, Chemistry for Life, etc.
This September, FIBES and Seville, hosting this international Congress as well as others, contribute with certain sectors which are directly linked to the travel and tourism activity such as hotels, shops, taxis, public transport, catering, etc. Although September is a difficult month to organize big events, this year, with two great congress meetings, the city has attracted around 4,000 visitors in two weeks.
Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, along with the relevant collaboration of Sevilla City Council, will still keep a leading position in the list of international venues hosting and organizing great congresses.
