ANNUAL EAIE CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION FIBES PRESS RELEASE
Seville, 5 September 2017
FIBES WILL WELCOME OVER 5.500 ATTENDEES and MORE THAN 250 EXHIBITION STANDS AT THE ANNUAL EAIE CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION
100% of the facilities in both buildings will be taken up
FIBES, Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, will hold the EAIE, European Association for International Education’s (EAIE) 29th Annual Conference & Exhibition attendees from 90 countries Congress between 12 and 15 September 2017, expecting more than 5,500 attendees and more than 250 exhibition stands.
There is no doubt that this is the most important and the largest meeting held in our facilities as it will take up the whole of the two venues FIBES I and FIBES II. In other words, 100% of the facilities, more than 200.000 metres squared will be utilised.
Seville was chosen to host this year’s Annual EAIE Conference & Exhibition following a comprehensive selection process, including a review of hospitable infrastructure of Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre’s Sustainability and Environment Protection policies, as well as the technical capacity to run the event.
The event is set up for success, due to the many groups involved in making the week happen: the Sevillian Council, who made the CECOP available to the conference organisers, the Coordination Operative Center and all the municipal departments; Junta de Andalucía, the Andalusia Government, through the labour of the General Secretariat of Universities with support from the Regional Department of Education, as well as the Universidades de Andalucía, a consortium of 10 universities: Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Universidad de Sevilla, Universidad de Cádiz, Universidad de Huelva, Universidad de Córdoba, Universidad de Jaén, Universidad de Málaga, Universidad de Granada, Universidad de Almería and Universidad Internacional de Andalucía.
For the host city, Seville, this large event, happening during the low season in terms of conference organisation, will add value to the local economy. Some sectors like taxis, hotels, shops, buses, catering, etc. will benefit from the high number of delegates staying in the city for more than four days.
The European Association for International Education (EAIE) is a non-profit, member-led organisation serving individuals actively involved in international higher education. The EAIE connects thousands of higher education professionals and provides a forum for professional development, information dissemination and networking. It has 3.000 members from Europe and around the world.
This year’s conference theme is ‘A mosaic of cultures’ – nudging at Andalusia’s multicultural history and the multifaceted work of international educators. The EAIE conference programme is wide-ranging and encompasses both practical matters and great societal issues. It will consist of sessions on timely topics, networking events and opportunities for knowledge exchange.
It will also feature a large exhibition as the main meeting point in Europe for international higher education professionals. The exhibition area will have over 250 exhibition stands from across the world including national pavilions who will showcase their services and products.

Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre is looking forward to this important conference, which will be a key reference for the international meeting sector. The Centre has made a number of improvements for this event both in the Internet services, by increasing the Wi-Fi coverage as well as enhancing bandwidth; and in the implementation of sustainable policies for which FIBES has been recently accredited with an ISO 14001 certification.
